The most expensive socks in the world sell for $500After the luxury lingerie brand La Perla presented earlier this month cashmere tights for 120 pounds, the US fashion label Rodarte created the most expensive socks in the world that will sell for $500.

The unsightly multicolour socks, available to buy at New York store Opening eremony, won't even keep you warm this winter, as they are full of holes. And to add to their impracticality, they are made of a combination of silky mohair and soft alpaca wool and therefore too delicate to wash.

It was recently reported sixty-three per cent of women now spend between £11 and £30 on a single pair of tights, inspired by stars. UK company Walford currently sell silk cashmere tights for around £100 and celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Pixie Lott have been sparking a boom in sales over the last few years.

High-end socks have turned out to be a hot trend now with different labels offering high-priced hosiery. Some examples include the $170 hand-knit Pendleton Woolen socks, $220 Rachel Comey leather socks and the $145 stirrup-style socks from Cacharel.
